Description
Appearance: It is a small, slender white heron with a black bill, black legs, and distinctive bright yellow feet that are often visible when they wade in shallow water. During the breeding season, they develop long, delicate ornamental plumes on their heads, chests, and backs.
Habitat: You will commonly find them in a variety of wetland habitats, including shallow lakes, marshes, riverbanks, and coastal lagoons. They are very common across many parts of the world, including Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.
Behavior: They are active hunters, often seen wading slowly through shallow water to stalk small fish, amphibians, insects, and crustaceans. They are also known to use their feet to stir up the mud and disturb their prey.
